John Hanley is a Historian and Academic based in Boulder, Colorado

His academic milieus extend to his public lectures and academic research in the fields of Central and East European History, Post-War Emerging Democracies in C&E Europe, Polish History, Modern European History, Film History and Film Criticism, Film, Art, and Visual Culture, English and American Romanticism, and Folklore with the University of Florida, The University of Colorado-Boulder, and Jagiellonian University.

His lectures, series, and presentations include work at the Denver Art Museum, the University of Florida, the University of Colorado, Boulder, University Women's Club, the Diary Center for the Arts, and other public institutions.

He is the founder of both the Society For the Advancement of Central and East European Cultures and the Central and East European Film Festival at the University of Colorado.
